Mount Gay "Extra Old", Barbados Rum
| |
|
|
Mount Gay proudly carries the moniker of the worlds oldest rum distillery. With more than 300 years of history
Mount Gay has become synonymous with its home island of Barbados and the entire rum world.
Mount Gay uses both pot stills and column stills. Pot Stills produce rums with a sense of heft and deep, sweet and spicy flavors
while column stills produce rums with cleaner, fruity flavors. The marriage of rums from these two production methods results in
rums with great texture and complexity that are well suited for mixing while being contemplative and delicious with nothing but a
glass.
Their distinctive, Extra Old is a special blend of 12 to 17 year-old rums. This rum is Mount Gays elite bottling
and is widely considered to be within the select group of the worlds greatest rums.

Tasting Note:
Brilliant amber to mahogany in color. The nose of the Extra Old is one of the greatest aromatic experiences in the world of rum.
Scents of treacle, tropical fruits, allspice, almonds, and vanilla fill the nose. The palate delivers more of the same offering a
lush round interior flanked by zesty citrus notes. The finish lasts for minutes trailing sweetly with notes of cloves, pepper, and
nutmeg. Tremendous! $34
