Domaine de Canton Cognac & Ginger Liqueur, France

Domaine de Canton Ginger, is another rare and sparkling jewel in the modern liqueur market. Deftly produced, and cleverly packaged, Domaine de Canton has the goods to be a giant hit in the US market and beyond. The product was created to capitalize on the growing popularity of Asian fusion cuisine but in my view, it’s much more than that. Domaine de Canton ideally marries baby ginger with VSOP Cognac along with vanilla, ginseng, and honey to create a liqueur that delivers just enough sweetness to best carry the complex mélange of flavors. This liqueur is great simply served on ice but I believe that Canton’s best asset is its amazing flexibility and compatibility as a cocktail component. Canton adds a distinctive note to a wide array of cocktail creations used as either the star component or s a supporting ingredient. This product is a mixologist’s dreams come true. At this moment, Domaine de Canton Ginger is available in LA, New York, Miami, San Francisco and will be in roughly a dozen markets by year's end.

Just last week, March 15-16, Domaine de Canton Ginger was named the ‘Best of Show’ Liqueur in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. (BevX Director, Sean Ludford is a judge in this annual competition.)

Tasting Note:
Clear, pale gold color. The nose is beautifully complex with hints of honey, and fresh, spicy ginger leading the charge. The palate perfectly balances viscosity and sweetness with tart and spicy notes. Amazingly pure offering true flavors of candied ginger with complimentary vanilla and brandy notes. An outstanding liqueur that while tremendous on its own, offers a staggering number of cocktail possibilities. $32
