Pietra Santa "Sacred Stone, Master's Red Blend" Cienega Valley 2006

Sacred Stone is the English translation of Pietra Santa, which is a fitting name for a wine that ideally sums the essence of Pietra Santa wines. This attractive red is born from a unique blend of 26% Merlot, 24% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah and small amounts of Carignane and Grenache. Sacred Stone perfectly showcases winemaker Alessio Carli’s unquestionable talents as a blender. The wine is supple and full while rustic with great balance making it the ideal match to a wide range of dishes or to be simply enjoyed on its own.

Perhaps best of all, this wine is one of the greatest bargains in the market today. Enjoy.

Tasting Note:
Deep red color. Wonderfully expressive on the nose with great fruit definition and variety going from ripe berries and cherry to cassis, fig, and prune with hints of earth, mineral and brown spices. The palate reveals much of the same being supple while dry, and complex while playful. Youthful while multi-layered, and friendly to the novice while intriguing to the most experienced wine-lover. An undisputed best buy. $10
