Zubrowka “Bison Grass Flavored” Vodka, Poland

Zubrowka “Bison Grass Flavored” Vodka, Poland is poised to make a significant leap with a sharp new package and ample marketing muscle. The origins of this vodka date back to the 8th century. For decades the product was banned from the US due to the obscure nature of the bison grass’ medicinal properties. Recently, the red-tape issues have been resolved and the brand has begun to trickle into major markets in the final quarter of 2007 with an expected nationwide blitz in 2008. Perhaps this is an old dog learning new tricks scenario but in a time when Vodka brands have exhausted back-bar space and our patience, the re-introduction of this truly unique spirit should be just what the doctor ordered.

Tasting Note:
Clear with a very pale, straw color. Each bottle contains a long blade of "Bison Grass" (a rough translation of the brand name) that gives the Vodka its unique color. Extremely floral with aromatic hints of pinecone, lime, roasted grains and baked apples. The palate confirms the same with a soft, semi-viscous mouthfeel. Slightly sweet with a mild, peppery finish. A very unique flavored Vodka. $27.99
